Brissos often have nicknames like Poss, Googie, Muffy, Browneye, Fudgie, Slime, titles of belonging, audible signs of their endearment to others. Those who do not have such nicknames put it down to the fact that they were not part of the fashionable ingroup at school. That they hung around with dags at school, dags who were actually very funny and interesting if you got to know them, but didn’t look it at the time, and certainly weren’t recognized as such by the ingroup.
Poss, Googie, Muffy, Browneye, Fudgie and Slime are also adamant that they were not part of the ingroup at school. God they were dags. It seems that no Brissos (nicknamed or not) identify with the ingroup at school and they wear this exclusion from the ingroup as a badge of honour. Brissos have some bitterness about having been so invisible to the ingroup. And are proud and a little smug that their dag friends are now successful, while some of those kids from the ingroup went on to lead complicated and troubled lives as adults.
All of the above only applies to female Brissos. Male Brissos don’t know what Brisso women are talking about when going on about this particular adolescent memory. Brisso blokes will say there wasn’t an ingroup at their school, and they never heard of anyone being included or excluded from any clique if it did exist.
